Liberty Lake County Park - Mica Peak and IEP Land

Liberty Lake County Park, located at the south end of Liberty Lake, provides nearly 3,000 acres of natural recreation land to local residents and visitors. Adjoining the Liberty Lake County Park, covering much of Mica Peak, are hundreds of acres of forest lands belonging to Inland Empire Paper Company (IEP). (IEP manages about 115,000 acres of timberland in northeastern Washington and northern Idaho to produce a continuous supply of high quality saw logs to area sawmills while securing a stable wood fiber supply for the IEP paper mill.)

The IEP land in Washington and Idaho is available for public use through the purchase of an annual family permit for $45, or an individual $5 day permit. The IEP permits are available, locally, at White’s Outdoors in Spokane Valley and the Hauser Market Smoke Shop in Idaho. Soon, these permits will be available for purchase at the Trail’s End Golf Course in Liberty Lake.

Anyone hiking, horseback riding, or mountain biking (Please stay on trails and remember you are a guest.) in the vast IEP forest lands must have a permit, or they are trespassing. Between the County Park and the IEP forest lands, the public opportunity for adventure in the woods is virtually unlimited in Liberty Lake and the IEP forest.
