FISH LAKE TRAIL Continued

For cyclists the riding is easier here and gives you a chance to look around and not constantly watch the trail. I once saw a large buck and two does right next to the trail. Soon you will come to the Marshall overpass.
From the trail you are only aware of the railroad tracks on either side but looking down from the overpass you can see the trail, both tracks and the town of Marshall to the right. There is a place next to the bridge by the quarry where people have scrambled down to get to the trail.

Marshall residents frequent this paved portion of the trail. There is no real access from the town except to cross the railroad track, walk down Spokane-Cheney Road to Scribner Road or scramble down by the Quarry.

Continuing along the pavement you will come to the Scribner Tunnel and then to the end of the pavement and Scribner Road. This is another access point for the trail. It is off the Spokane-Cheney Road just past Marshall.

Scribner Road Crossing

We ask at this point that trail users not travel the section of the Fish Lake Trail from Scribner Road to Fish Lake, or the section over the Interstate north of the Lindeke Trailhead. There are significant liability issues for the city on both of those areas that could derail our efforts to get the trail done. Your help is appreciated.

We continue with the virtual trail hoping that trail users will support all efforts to complete the trail through this beautiful section. At this time please to not travel this section. There is an old RR No Tresspassing sign as you continue past the Scribner Road crossing. The virtual trail continues on the gravel trail and soon comes to lovely Queen Lucus Lake.

The lake is frozen in the winter, lots of water in the spring, by late summer - a bit scummy for the geese!

Summer brings Blazing Stars.

The trail comes to live railroad tracks on both sides of the trail. The Burlington Northern Railroad owns those tracks and you are trespassing when you cross them. They do not want any liability. When funding comes through a tunnel under or a bridge over these tracks will be included in the final project.

The gravel trail continues across the track to the right, then off to the left to continue to Fish Lake.
Just as you reach the Fish Lake end and the Trailhead for the Columbia Plateau Trail there is another another set of live tracks.
