North-South Centennial Trail or the Manito-Centennial Trail Project
Creating Pedestrian, Bicycle and Greenway Oriented Corridors on South Hill

Project Purpose:

The purpose of this project is to design a system of mixed use streets in the Manito/Cannon Hill neighborhoods which will facilitate the movement of alternative transportation throughout the area using the existing parks as nodes of destination. The project was meant to both work in conjunction with neighbohood members as well as design with criteria based upon the topics of oil depletion, sucessful aging and health.

Project Objectives:

1. Create a system which contributes to accessibility and beautification of the park system.

2. Produce an environment focused on the pedestrian.

3. Connect neighborhood, community and city parks systems.

4. Design safe passage areas across arterials focused on pedestrians.

5. Create an environment more conducive of social interaction.

This as-yet virtual trail would connect Riverfront Park/Centennnial Trail/Downtown with Manito Park via the Cliff-Cannon Neighborhood. Think Howard Street to LC to Pioneer Park to Cliff Drive to Cliff Park to Roosevelt School to (unimproved) McClellan St to Manito Park. It would be a pedestrian & bicycle greenway. Preliminary drawings of the Cliff Drive to Manito Park section have been developed. Would be delighted to have any and all collaborate on this project. Contact Richard Rushfor more information.
